Red Sparowes – The Fear Is Excruciating, But Therein Lies the Answer (2010)

Muzycznie Red Sparowes trzyma bardzo ciekawy i wysoki poziom, serwując porywające melodie, niesamowicie udekorowane wspaniałymi gitarami o brzmieniu dobrze znanym z poprzednich wydawnictw.

Long Distance Calling – Avoid the Light (2009)

Solowy debiut Antoniego Budzińskiego, gitarzysty sopockiej Saluminesii, na którym przestrzenne gitary i cichy śpiew podejmują dialog z ambientoidalną elektroniką i surowym rytmem automatu perkusyjnego. Płyta nie tylko dla fanów Slowdive.

Ef - Give Me Beauty... Or Give Me Death! (2006)

Ef to emocje, eksplozje i energia – raczej w melancholijnych brzmieniach.

Unwound - Leaves Turn Inside You (2001)

Ostatnia płyta jednej z najwybitniejszych kapel w historii rocka. Leaves to jedna z najlepszych rzeczy, jakie wydano w XXI wieku (płytę nagrano w latach 1999-2000). Szkoda, że Unwound już nie istnieje.

Have A Nice Life - Deathconsciousness (2008) *****

Całą resztę zapraszam do kupna Video i Ani Wyszkoni. A właśnie! Kto to jest Ania Wyszkoni?''

George Dorn Screams - Snow Lovers Are Dancing (2006) *****

George Dorn Screams is definitely a band for late evenings. This music is full of sincerity, calm and melancholy. George Dorn Screams is also energy coming from between post rock and slowcore. After their debut album called “Snow Lovers Are Dancing” they were called the forerunners of Serpentine Rock by Piotr Kosinski from Polish Radio 3rd Programme. “Mazzy Star meets Joy Division”.

De La Mancha - Atlas (2008) *****

After the excellent ‘Release All Light EP’, De La Mancha arrive with a full-length offering, delivering on that early promise with an album that combines a Sigur Ros-like sense of scale with humbler, shoegazing songwriting values. ‘Release All Light’ still shines brightly from the album’s tracklist, sounding great on an epic scale, but there’s a lot more to Atlas than that: perhaps due to the presence of Dag Rosenqvist (aka Jasper TX) on electronics and guitar, for every moment of tuneful Euro-indie like ‘Lotus Seven’, there’s a more subtle, soundscaped piece like the ambient brass tones of ‘And Rainy Days’, or the introspective, echoing piano chords of ‘Sleep’. If all this sounds suspiciously like some sort of by-the-book post-rock exercise and your tolerance for such things has reached saturation point, fear not: this isn’t really that sort of record at all… despite the presence of gratuitously long, irritating titles like ‘So Let’s Blow Up Our Heads And Leave’, ‘Atlas’ is proof that De La Mancha have an impressively diverse repertoire, comfortably blending musical disciplines, and handling their instruments with a real expertise. Furthermore, the album is all filtered through a great production job from Rosenqvist, who keeps the hour-long duration ticking over with a real sense of dynamism and narrative progression. Lovely.

65daysofstatic - The Fall of Math (2004)

65daysofstatic began in Sheffield, United Kingdom in 2001 as Iain Armstrong, Paul Wolinski and Joe Fro. Contrary to popular belief, they did not originally form to try to write music to fit the unreleased and little known John Carpenter film, ‘Stealth Bomber’ (starring Kurt Russell). Instead, they took their name from the 1954 CIA-backed coup d’etat in Guatemala. There, the CIA disabled Guatemalan communication systems while spreading propaganda, leading to the overthrow of the government.

Slint - Spiderland (1991)

Indie rock certainly has a few albums that people may consider our 'Sgt. Pepper's', and this is without a doubt one of them. Recorded by Brian Paulson (not Steve Albini as some may think) and released by four dudes from Kentucky, this 1991 album is essential. It is extremely heavy, emotional, technical and musical at the same time. Elements of math rock, emo and new metal spawned from this low profile Touch and Go release.

The production of the album is notable because of the simplistic use of just drums, bass, guitar and voice. There's no extra cheese, no keyboards and no studio tricks. The album only has six songs total but it is a true full-length epic.

The oddly creepy album cover was taken by fellow Kentucky citizen, Will Oldham. This type of mysterious imagery combined with spooky lyrics enhanced the overall feeling that this album was other-worldly. It is a true timeless release that sounds great today. If you have never heard this album as a whole, get it, turn down the lights and turn it up.
