Have a Nice Life – Time of Land (2010)

Time of Land is the name of an E.P. we kind of fell into while working on our next full-length album. It was sold in physical form only once: at our first show ever, at The Stone in NYC. About 50 tapes were sold that night.

Now, the E.P. is available for free to everyone who couldn’t make it to the show, in digital form. Thank you very much, to everyone, for your continued and completely overwhelming support for us, our label, and our music. It is deeply, deeply appreciated.

If You Would Like To Support The Band Or Know More enemieslist
is our self-run, self-financed record label. We put out records by bands that record themselves. We think the music is really, really good. Check out the stuff we have available. Sign up for our very-sporadic newsletter. We think you’ll probably like it.

In conclusion: Please download the record. Send it to your friends. Post it places. Review it. Tell us what you think.

Thanks,
HAVE A NICE LIFE

Have A Nice Life - Deathconsciousness (2008) *****

Całą resztę zapraszam do kupna Video i Ani Wyszkoni. A właśnie! Kto to jest Ania Wyszkoni?''

De La Mancha - Atlas (2008) *****

After the excellent ‘Release All Light EP’, De La Mancha arrive with a full-length offering, delivering on that early promise with an album that combines a Sigur Ros-like sense of scale with humbler, shoegazing songwriting values. ‘Release All Light’ still shines brightly from the album’s tracklist, sounding great on an epic scale, but there’s a lot more to Atlas than that: perhaps due to the presence of Dag Rosenqvist (aka Jasper TX) on electronics and guitar, for every moment of tuneful Euro-indie like ‘Lotus Seven’, there’s a more subtle, soundscaped piece like the ambient brass tones of ‘And Rainy Days’, or the introspective, echoing piano chords of ‘Sleep’. If all this sounds suspiciously like some sort of by-the-book post-rock exercise and your tolerance for such things has reached saturation point, fear not: this isn’t really that sort of record at all… despite the presence of gratuitously long, irritating titles like ‘So Let’s Blow Up Our Heads And Leave’, ‘Atlas’ is proof that De La Mancha have an impressively diverse repertoire, comfortably blending musical disciplines, and handling their instruments with a real expertise. Furthermore, the album is all filtered through a great production job from Rosenqvist, who keeps the hour-long duration ticking over with a real sense of dynamism and narrative progression. Lovely.

Klimt 1918 - Just In Case We'll Never Meet Again (2008)

For those new to the band, the name itself is derived from an artist named Gustave Klimt and the year of his death. As for the new album, the official name of the album is Just In Case We'll Never Meet Again (Soundtrack for the Cassette Generation) and it is eleven tracks of alternative-influenced music that can be compared to newer Anathema and Katatonia. As with those bands, the emphasis is on lush melodies and they come in spades here. The production values are good, which allow them to shine through on the album. Vocalist Marco Soellner adds some emotion to the music, something that takes the album from merely average to a surprisingly enjoyable listen. Obviously, this music is not for everyone, especially those who have soured on Anathema and Katatonia post-2000. If nothing else, Klimt 1918 is an interesting experience, especially on Just In Case We'll Never Meet Again.

Klimt 1918, like most bands of their genre, are one of those bands that can be difficult to understand, with some profound lyrics and sound. Just listening to the albums can be a chore unto itself. With Just In Case We'll Never Meet Again, that road to understanding takes even more twists and turns. While it isn't for everyone, those who seek something different will find some reward with the new album from Klimt 1918.

Tracklist:

1. The Breathtaking Days (Via Lactea)
2. Skygazer
3. Ghost of a tape listener
4. The gradudate
5. Just an interlude in your life
6. Just in case we'll never meet again
7. Suspense music
8. Disco awayness
9. Arget
10. All summer long
11. True love is the oldest fear
